Role Overview
Reporting to the Head of Business Intelligence, the Data Scientist will be responsible for building predictive models, transforming complex datasets into actionable insights, and supporting the adoption of modern data and AI technologies like Microsoft Fabric. The role involves working closely with stakeholders, data engineers, and BI teams to deliver scalable data solutions and visualisations. Success will be measured by the ability to identify data-driven opportunities that create measurable business value.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working as a Data Scientist or in a similar analytical role
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, and SQL
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify opportunities where data-driven solutions can deliver business value
- Solid understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning techniques, and optimisation algorithms
- Experience working with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Qlik, or Matplotlib
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric and modern data platform architectures, including lakehouse concepts, analytics, and AI capabilities, is highly desirable
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams and delivering solutions through iterative development
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline

Key Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to understand strategic priorities and identify opportunities for data science applications
- Transform complex datasets into meaningful insights, recommendations, and data products
- Apply advanced analytics, machine learning, AI, and statistical techniques to solve business challenges
- Design, develop, deploy, and optimise predictive, propensity, and optimisation models focusing on customer acquisition, retention, cross-sell, customer lifetime value, and margin improvement
- Explore emerging technologies and AI capabilities to enhance efficiency and outcomes
- Support the implementation and promotion of Microsoft Fabric-based data science and analytics solutions
- Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to integrate data sources and maintain high data quality standards
- Develop data pipelines, APIs, and reusable assets within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem
- Produce documentation for models, datasets, and methodologies
- Work with BI and Reporting teams to develop impactful dashboards and visualisations for diverse audiences
Requirements
- Right to work in the UK
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline
- Proven experience as a Data Scientist or similar role
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, and SQL
- Experience working with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Qlik, or Matplotlib
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric and modern data platforms is highly desirable
- On-site work required in Leeds
