Pricing Actuary (property) - London
Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Property Pricing Actuary to join our growing team. This key role will focus on actuarial pricing, working closely with the Head of Pricing and underwriting teams to optimise profitability across various lines of business. You will take the lead in the development and maintenance of pricing models for property lines, helping to build a pricing function that aligns with the company's ambitious growth targets. The ideal candidate will be passionate about continuous improvement and have the drive to make a significant impact within a dynamic environment. There is also potential for future line management responsibilities as the team expands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide actuarial pricing and analytical support to underwriting teams, including Property Open Market, Property Facilities, Property Treaty, Marine Treaty, Energy, and Specialty.
- Develop and enhance pricing tools to assess price adequacy and implement rate changes.
- Perform portfolio and transactional pricing analyses, including case pricing.
- Review and assess the methodologies and assumptions used in property and specialty pricing.
- Ensure pricing model documentation is accurate, clear, and up to date.
- Be an effective representative of the pricing team, developing strong working relationships with underwriting teams.
- Comply with IFoA standards and ensure alignment with PRA/FCA Conduct Standards.
- Progress towards completion of IFoA professional exams, as applicable.
Experience & Skills:
- Nearly or newly qualified actuary with pricing experience in the Lloyd's and/or London market.
- Strong understanding of actuarial and statistical techniques used in pricing.
- Proficiency in Excel and VBA is essential.
- Experience with coding languages (Python, R, etc.) is beneficial.
- Previous experience in property pricing is advantageous.
- A collaborative team player who actively supports colleagues and contributes to meeting team and business goals.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to translate complex actuarial concepts into clear, business-friendly language.
