Senior Java Developer - Back Office, AWS Migration, CI/CD, iAC (Infrastructure as Code)
Location: 3 DAYS ONSITE IN LONDON
Contract Length: 12 months
Day Rate / Pay: £700-£750 per day INSIDE IR35
The Senior Java Developer role focuses on delivering back-office solutions within a leading financial services organisation. The position requires extensive experience in Java development, particularly within investment banking or capital markets, to support critical trading systems.
This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, developing and maintaining high-quality code, and ensuring system functionality aligns with business needs. The successful candidate will be integral to enhancing system performance and compliance, working within a hybrid environment.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Senior Java Developer within Back-Office (Settlements, Post Trade, Investment Banking or Capital Markets)
- Strong hands-on development experience with Java Spring Boot and REST APIs
- Strong iAC (Infrastructure as Code) with CI/CD & Docker Containers
- Excellent AWS knowledge especially in AWS Migration/AWS Transformation. ANY LAMBDA, ATHENA, RDS, ECS & S3 ARE A BONUS
- Experience with SQL and relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL)
- Any Messaging (MQ, Kafka etc.) are a bonus
- Knowledge of trade lifecycle, settlements, position management, regulatory reporting, and transaction reporting processes
- Ability to gather requirements directly from business stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Role Overview
The Senior Java Developer (back office) is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining core systems supporting trade processing and lifecycle management. The role involves working closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions that improve efficiency and compliance. The team operates in a hybrid environment, and success will depend on delivering robust, reliable, and scalable software solutions aligned with regulatory standards.
- Manage and develop back-office modules using Java Spring Boot
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and clarify requirements
- Support system integration and data management with relational databases
- Assist in system testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance
Again, to be successful in this role you will need as much expertise in the following:
