A highly regarded consultancy is seeking a Consulting Actuary with strong Defined Benefit (DB) pensions experience to join its growing actuarial team. The position offers flexibility with a hybrid work model based out of one of several UK offices.
The Opportunity:
This firm delivers pragmatic, tailored advice to both trustees and sponsors, helping them navigate complex pension issues including investment strategy, de-risking, longevity planning, risk management, and regulatory changes. Services include full actuarial consulting, investment consultancy, and standalone advisory projects such as mergers and acquisitions. Clear pathways to progression, including partnership, are available.
This role is ideal for an actuary looking to move into or grow within a client-facing consulting position. Team leadership opportunities are also available, supporting both operational oversight and strategic client engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a lead consultant for a portfolio of clients, providing tailored advice and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Support senior consultants and Partners in managing relationships, resolving issues, and identifying new opportunities.
  • Attend and contribute to client meetings, offering innovative solutions and updates on relevant industry developments.
  • Review and sign off client deliverables, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with legislation and scheme rules.
  • Mentor junior team members, review their work, and support their development.
  • Oversee team workflow, contribute to strategic planning, and participate in internal team leader meetings.
  • Identify and support new business opportunities, including assisting with proposals and pitches.
  • Stay current on developments in the pensions industry and proactively advise clients.
  • Provide peer reviews and support cross-functional collaboration across services.

About You:
  • FIA / FAA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Proven DB pensions experience is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor actuarial teams.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and client management skills.
  • Effective project and time management capabilities.
  • Confidence in IT tools and actuarial systems.
  • A proactive mindset, with a flair for innovation and business development.

What’s on Offer:
  • Competitive discretionary annual bonus.
  • Core benefits including life assurance, group income protection, private medical cover, and 25 days annual leave (plus holiday trading).
  • 8% employer pension contribution from day one.
  • Employee Assistance Programme for personal and family support.
  • Wide range of flexible benefits including dental, critical illness cover, gym membership, travel insurance, retail discounts, and more.
  • Hybrid working and flexible hours to suit individual needs and lifestyle.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven actuary to take the next step in their career within a supportive and dynamic environment.
Flexible working arrangements available.
